Dutch energy transition for dummies

Spreker: Ir. Remco de Boer

Locatie: Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Five things everybody should know, but nobody tells you. Publicist Remco de Boer offers a progressive yet realistic view on how to achieve a true energy transition.

By presenting an extremely ambitious climate and energy policy the freshly installed Dutch cabinet surprised both skeptics and optimists. The Dutch energy transition enters a next phase and the next steps we have to take will hurt, really hurt. So far, we have only been talking about saving the earth without acting. That’s over; we have to practice what we preach. But before we can do that, it’s high time to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about the Dutch Energy transition.

Ir. Remco de Boer is a researcher, publicist and interviewer on the subject of energy transition. Since 2016 he has reported on energy transition for the Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad, BNR Newsradio and for the news service Energeia. He is also a columnist for Delft Integraal, the scientific magazine of TU Delft. His latest book, Tussen hoogmoed en hysterie (Between arrogance and hysteria) is a reconstruction of the fight against shale gas extraction in the Netherlands.

This lecture is organized in cooperation with the symposium committee of study association Thor (Electrical Engineering & Automotive) and is part of their symposium on Smart Grids.
