220V

Locatie: Luna Corona (De Lampendriessen 31)

13 an unlucky number? Hell no, because tonight the 13th edition of our renowned mini-festival for electronic music 220V will blast you away. In the past we’ve had the likes of James Blake, Actress, Legowelt and Modeselektor. Now we are ready to get loose with Tempodooloo, Henry Wu, Planty Herbs and Jumelage.

Tempodooloo is the electronic music project of Thijs Bastiaans, drummer of bands like Femme Vanille and Stefan Schöler Trio. He debuted with a one hour long, fully improvised live set at the 2016 Amsterdam Dance Event. But that’s exactly his comfort zone. By playing and composing musical ideas in real time, mixed together with bits of jazz, world music and guilty pleasures, he is taking the listener into his musical universe. Through that approach he is exploring all kinds of corners of electronic music. Gritty grime, trippy ambient, funky techno or deep emotional house are some of the musical outputs to be expected. But every live set is completely different…

Henry Wu set a new standard in November 2016 with the release of Black Focus on Brownswood Recordings. And with sell out releases on EGLO and Rhythm Section, Wu has made a name for himself as a leading figure in the new generation of soul music worldwide. Championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, DJ Spinna, Osunlade, IG Culture and Benji B. He’s also one part of the infamous cutting edge jazz duo Yussef Kamaal. Henry Wu is on top of his shit and will spin you round and round.

Planty Herbs means Party with a capital P, but never too lame or shallow. They make organic electronic music that inhibits stress and appeals to your relax-chromosomes.

Jumelage is a disco funky house DJ outta Eindhoven. With his summer vibe he likes to warm up the waters. Jumelage likes peeps to enjoy with whims of warm waving vinyl. Keep them feet in the sand as the waves roll on your own beach, Inspired by heroes as fouk, Felix leifur and Harry Wolfman he’ll make sure the tide is high!

220V focusses on the element of surprise, the newbies, the up and coming and especially on that oh so important word that starts with a ‘d’ and ends with ‘ance’.  In between the acts the students of 220V themselves will make sure your feet will be shufflin’.
