he Studium Generale office has the task of promoting the social, intellectual and cultural interests of students. Together with students, SG organizes lectures, discussions, concerts, exhibitions, excursions, theater and film performances and workshops for students. SG also has the task of strengthening the cultural role of the university in the city and the region, and of supporting and promoting student amateur art.
Where is Studium Generale?
The majority of the SG programs take place at the following locations:
- The Blauwe Zaal in the Auditorium (lectures and debates)
- The Gaslab (theater performances, concerts, country evenings and workshops)
- The Zwarte Doos film hall (films and filmplus)
- Beeldbank, in the hall of the Main Building (art library for employees)
- Etalage video gallery, De Beeldbank, in the hall of the Main Building (short films)
- The hall of the Main Building (exhibitions)
- occasionally also Kennispoort

The Studium Generale managing committee is responsible for the SG program policy. The committee members are prof.dr. Bert Meijer, prof.dr.ir. Anthonie Meijers, drs. Brigitte Rijshouwer, prof.dr.ir. Maarten Steinbuch, dr. Lucas Asselbergs (secretary), Jasper Hoeksema and Fiona Jongejans (student members).

All universities in the Netherlands and an increasing number of higher professional education institutes have a Studium Generale. Although the scale and scope of their programs often differ greatly, all these Studia Generalia have the same mission.
